Kyle Lancto joined the Castleton University Athletic Communications Department as a graduate assistant in August 2018. Lancto, a 2018 graduate of SUNY Cortland, joins the staff following a four-year stint as a student assistant and sports information intern at Cortland.
During his time with the Red Dragons, Lancto worked closely with the baseball and softball programs, acting as one of the official scorers for four seasons, including the baseball program’s first-ever national championship in 2015. During that time, Lancto compiled statistics, maintained historical records and authored event recaps. As an intern, Lancto was also the media contact for the men’s and women’s track and field programs. In addition, Lancto contributed to the Red Dragons Sports Network, serving as a producer, director, and commentator.
After one season as a media relations and video production intern with the Albany Dutchmen of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, Lancto was named the assistant general manager of the club prior to the 2018 summer season. In this role, Lancto oversaw the marketing and communications efforts, assisted the general manager and vice president of the organization in all aspects related to the operation of the organization, and supervised a team of interns.
Previously, Lancto spent two seasons with the Tri-City ValleyCats, the New York-Penn League Class-A Short Season affiliate of the Houston Astros, as a promotions intern.
A native of Schenectady, N.Y., Lancto is working towards a master’s degree in Athletic Leadership from Castleton. He currently resides in Rutland, Vt.
